زمینه و هدف عزت نفس یک عامل مهم روان‌شناختی است که بر سلامتی و کیفیت زندگی دانشجویان تأثیر می‌گذارد. این مطالعه با هدف تعیین نقش پیش‌بینی‌کنندگی عزت نفس و رشته تحصیلی بر وضعیت سلامت روان دانشجویان مقطع کارشناسی حرف مختلف بهداشتی دانشگاه علوم‌پزشکی شیراز، ایران انجام شد.
روش بررسی این مطالعه مقطعی به صورت توصیفی تحلیلی و همبستگی انجام شد. دانشجویان سال اول تا چهارم مقطع کارشناسی حرف مختلف بهداشتی (پرستاری، مامایی، اتاقع عمل، فوریت‌های پزشکی) به صورت سرشماری جهت شرکت در مطالعه دعوت شدند و نهایتاً 184 نفر در مطالعه شرکت کردند. سلامت روان‌شناختی با استفاده از پرسش‌نامه سلامت عمومی 28 سؤالی (GHQ 28) و عزت نفس دانشجویان توسط پرسش‌نامه عزت نفس کوپر اسمیت (CSEI) اندازه‌گیری شد.
یافته‌ها حدود 44 درصد از دانشجویان نمره سلامت روان‌شناختی 23 و کمتر را گزارش کردند که می‌تواند نشان‌دهنده افزایش احتمال پریشانی روان‌شناختی باشد. افسردگی دارای کمترین میانگین±انحراف‌معیار نمره (2/4±92/3) بود، در حالی که اختلال عملکرد اجتماعی بالاترین میانگین±انحراف‌معیار نمره (9/3±06/8) را در میان خرده‌مقیاس‌ها داشت. همچنین در آزمون همبستگی پیرسون، همبستگی منفی بین نمره سلامت روان‌شناختی و عزت نفس دانشجویان مشاهده شد(0001/0=P، 556/0- =r)، به طوری که دانشجویان با عزت نفس بالاتر، سطح پریشانی روان‌شناختی کمتری را تجربه می‌کردند. با توجه به تجزیه و تحلیل رگرسیون، 9/30 درصد از واریانس سلامت روان دانشجویان به وسیله عزت نفس پیش‌بینی می‌شود.
نتیجه‌گیری شیوع بالای اختلالات عاطفی در بین مراقبین ارائه‌دهنده خدمات سلامتی، می‌تواند مشکلات موجود در ارائه خدمات بهداشتی را پیچیده سازد. بنابراین مشاوره و دیگر خدمات حمایتی بایستی در دسترس ایشان قرار گیرد.
