Abstract: (409 Views)
Background and Objectives: Common teaching methods such as lectures are not effective for learning theoretical courses and it is necessary that integrated methods should be used for teaching and students should try to accept the responsibility of their own learning.
The purpose of the study was to determine the level of learning and satisfaction of students with the multimedia teaching and common method in the course “Religion of Life; Applied Ethics “at Hamadan University of Medical Sciences 2023.
Methods: This semi-experimental study (before-after) was conducted in the course “Religion of Life; Applied Ethics ". The students included 121 students of medical sciences who were selected randomly and divided into two equal groups. Teaching method, using in the control group lecture and questioning, while the intervention group multimedia, was used. The educational content and PowerPoint, the lecturer, and the number of sessions were the same for both groups. The research tools included a 15-item questionnaire aimed at evaluating the students’ learning level (for two groups pre-test and post-test) and also a questionnaire aimed at measuring student’s satisfaction level with the courses that included 17 items (intervention group). The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistical tests through STATA statistical software.
Findings: The research showed that the average learning score in the intervention group was 4.01 points higher than the control group and this difference was statistically significant (Z=-7.236, P-value<0.001). The overall satisfaction average was 3.58 (out of 5 points) with a standard deviation of 0.23. The percentage of "completely satisfied" and "fairly satisfied" students in the areas of course content, presented assignments, and produced content were 68.10%, 33.33%, and 79.31%, respectively.
Conclusion: Considering the increase in learning and satisfaction of students in the multimedia teaching method, it is recommended that professors use the capacities of this educational approach for better, more effective, and lasting learning and transfer of religious teachings in the course of religion of life; applied ethics should be used.
