Background and Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of carotid artery calcification and its accompanying factors in patients aged 40 years and older to the specialized oral, maxillofacial and oral radiology center in Qom in 2021. Materials and Methods: The present study is Descriptive cross sectional study and 417 clients were examined for the presence of carotid artery calcification and a questionnaire related to demographic information and related risk factors was completed and the results were obtained using SPSS software and test Chi-square test and t-test were analyzed. Results: Out of 417 patients, 141 (33.8%) were male and 276 (66.2%) were female. The prevalence of carotid artery calcification in panoramic images was 1.4%. Based on statistical analysis, there is a significant association between carotid artery calcification and a history of cardiovascular disease(P=0.03), but the no association between carotid artery calcification and other related risk factors including diabetes, smoking, hypertension, history of CVA and MI in people over 40 years is significant(P>0.05). Conclusion: Based on the findings of the present study, among the associated risk factors, carotid artery calcification was associated only with cardiovascular disease and prospective studies with larger sample sizes are needed.
