Abstract:   (497 Views)
Background and Objectives: Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) respond to the medical needs of sick or injured people outside the medical centers. Therefore, their general health is important for providing quality patient care. This study aims to measure the general health of EMTs in Qom, Iran, in the post-COVID era and find the effective factors.
Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study that was conducted on 185 EMTs from hospitals in Qom, Iran, who were selected using a simple random sampling method. The instrument used was Goldberg’s general health questionnaire (GHQ). Data analysis was done in SPSS software, version 16 using independent t-test, ANOVA and univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses.
Results: The mean age and mean total GHQ score of the participants was 35.15±8.8 years and 24.69±3.13, respectively. The variables of age, employment status and work experience were able to predict the general health of EMTs.
Conclusion: In the post-COVID era, the general health of EMTs in Qom is at a good level. Age factor can predict the improvement of their general health, while having temporary or contractual employment can predict the decrease in their general health. Therefore, it is recommended that hospital managers consider these factors in developing educational programs and measures for EMTs.
