Introduction: Due to the course of pregnancy in pregnant women, the prevention and control of this disease in pregnant women and its effects on mothers and infants and vertical mother-to-child transmission has become a major concern. Due to the limited studies on pregnant mothers and the effect of this virus on the consequences of pregnancy and infants. The aim of this study was to investigate the laboratory factors of pregnant women with covid19 on the outcomes of their newborns in Hamedan.
Materials and Methods: Clinical records, laboratory results, CT scan and lung x-ray results of 69 pregnant women with Covid 19 and their infants who were hospitalized in Fatemieh Educational and Medical Center between March 1, 2017 and the end of September 2020 were examined. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 19
Results: The mean age of pregnant women with COVID 19 was estimated to be 30.27 38 6.38 years and their mean gestational age was 31.04 ± 8.2 weeks. About 7.2% of them had an underlying disease, 17.4% had a history of influenza, and the mean length of hospital stay was 6.07 2. 2.42. The most common symptoms were fever, cough and shortness of breath. 49% have had their first pregnancy. 23% of mothers had a normal delivery and 50% had a cesarean delivery. In addition, 23% of them underwent emergency cesarean section due to reduced fetal movements, decreased heart rate and lack of progress in delivery. In the CT scan results, the most common manifestation was multiple mottling and ground-glass opacity. Meanwhile, 63 people were discharged and 5 people were sent to other medical centers and 1 of the infected mothers died. In 44% of pregnant women, white blood cell count increased, in 28% CRP, in 44.8% Esr and in 46.1% Cpk. In 30% of people, a decrease in hemoglobin was reported. In the study of neonatal outcomes, 68.1% of infected mothers were alive and healthy, and the PCR result was negative in 89.58% of neonates.
Conclusion: The clinical features of COVID-19 in pregnant women are similar to those reported in non-pregnant adult patients. But the findings of this small group of cases suggest that early diagnosis of Covid-19 is essential in pregnant women. Because there is a possibility of worsening complications in the mother and fetus.
