Abstract:   (498 Views)
Background: The emergency department is considered as one of the most important parts of hospitals, which is often the first encounter between the patient and the healthcare professionals. Monitoring the satisfaction of patients and companions with the quality of services provided, especially in children, who are considered a vulnerable group, and their parents, who experience severe psychological stress, is one of the important quality measurement processes.
Method: A 48-question questionnaire (27 non-therapeutic questions and 21 therapeutic questions) and demographic information was used to investigate the level of satisfaction of the parents of pediatric patients referred to the emergency room of a military hospital. The data was analyzed by SPSS V.16 software. statistical tests were Pearson chi-square, one-way ANOVA, and Fisher's exact test. Also, a significance level of 0.05 was considered in this study
Results: At the end of the study, 383 questionnaires were completed. In the therapeutic and non-therapeutic sectors, most people were highly satisfied (69.2% and 46.8%, respectively). There was a significant relationship between the level of satisfaction and the age of people in both therapeutic and non-therapeutic departments (P=0.015). In the treatment department, a significant relationship was observed between gender and satisfaction (P<0.05). Among other variables such as type of insurance, education, etc., no significant relationship with the level of satisfaction was observed.
Conclusion: In general, the level of satisfaction was high, but the lower level of satisfaction with non-medical services compared to medical services indicates the need for policy makers and health managers to pay more attention to the welfare services of hospitals
