Abstract: (356 Views)
Background and Objectives: Trait-based attitudinal factors are one of the most important issues affecting the self-care of patients with cardiovascular disorders. The aim of study was designing and testing an attitudinal model based on the trait of self-care in patients with cardiovascular disorders.
Methods: The present study was a cross-sectional and retrospective descriptive study. The research population included 405 patients with cardiovascular disorders who were selected non-randomly. The data was collected using a researcher-made questionnaire and analyzed with SPSS software (version 23). Descriptive tests, Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the data. Also, the proposed model was evaluated using structural equation modeling in Amos software (version 24).
Results: The average age of the participants in the research was 59.96 ± 14.25 years. Statistically, the meaning of life structure predicted the sense of coherence structure (p<0.001, β=0.26). Also, the structure of understanding the disease was also a predictor of self-care (p<0.001, β=0.21), which was statistically significant. Degree of freedom (χ2/df) and Root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) were less than 5 and less than 0.8, respectively.
Conclusion: Based on the present results, the most important dimensions included in the explanation of self-care included positive perception of illness, focus on health control, and the meaning of life. According to these results, the focus of health control and disease understanding on the one hand and the influence of the meaning of life on the other hand, should be further investigated in relation to self-care in cardiovascular patients.
