Background and Objectives: Clinical education is a crucial process in training medical students, playing a fundamental role in shaping their professional capabilities and competencies. It is a vital and key component in developing physicians responsible for maintaining and promoting community health. Therefore, this study aimed to identify and determine the key factors influencing the improvement of the quality of clinical education for medical students at Qom University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: A qualitative research design and qualitative case study method were employed. The participants included 15 experts and specialists in clinical education processes, selected through purposive sampling and based on the theoretical data saturation criterion. The research instrument consisted of semi-structured in-depth interviews, and the data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The validity of the collected qualitative data was ensured through participant review methods.
Results: Effective planning, human resources, financial resources, structure, clinical environment, professional ethics, supervision and control, communication, equipment, and technology were identified as key factors affecting the improvement of the quality of clinical education for medical students at Qom University of Medical Sciences.
Conclusion: The findings indicated that achieving optimal efficiency in clinical education and improving its quality for medical students require extensive coordination at various levels of the university, hospitals, and their interconnections. Clinical education programs must be implemented with careful consideration of the influencing factors to ensure effective outcomes.
