This critical period demanded effective and efficient communication between nurses and patients and strong teamwork. This study investigated the relationship between communication skills and demographic variables among nurses at Kamkar Arabnia Hospital in Qom, Iran, in 2022.
Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study examined the relationship between communication skills and demographic variables among nurses at Kamkar Hospital in Qom, Iran, in 2022. The sample size was 165 nurses. Data were collected using demographic and standardized communication skills questionnaires, whose validity and reliability had been confirmed in previous studies.

Conclusion: This study showed that the overall communication skills score of nurses at Kamkar Arabnia Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic was 51.18 on average, indicating a need to enhance communication skills in this group. While some demographic variables such as age, gender, and work experience did not show a significant correlation with communication skills scores, the results revealed that job rank, work unit, and employment type significantly impacted nurses' communication skills. These findings highlight the importance of focusing on communication skills training and considering nurses' job characteristics to improve the quality of healthcare services.
