Background and Objectives: Suicide is an important issue in society. Early detection and prevention of suicide attempts should be considered to save the lives of those at risk. In the meantime, it is important to identify and evaluate suicidal ideation; the aim of this study was to investigate the Chronic Suicidal Ideation Inventory-5 (CSI-5).
Methods: The statistical population of the present study included all the people aged 18 to 25 years of a military psychiatric hospital in Tehran city between August and October of 2023. The statistical sample of the study included 203 people who were selected by available sampling method. In order to evaluate the convergent and divergent validity, Difficulty in emotion regulation scale (DERS), depression, anxiety, stress scale (DASS-21) and resilience questionnaire were used. The factor structure of the questionnaire was examined through confirmatory factor analysis. Reliability was performed using Cronbach's alpha method and retesting and analyzing the data with version 25 of SPSS software and version 8.8 of LISREL.
Results: The results showed that the reliability of the Chronic Suicidal Ideation Inventory-5 based on Cronbach's alpha was between 0.89 and based on the the test-retest was 0.88. Studies on the convergent and divergent validity of the Chronic Suicidal Ideation Inventory-5 also confirmed the acceptable validity of the scale in the study sample.
Conclusion: Based on the findings, it can be said that the Chronic Suicidal Ideation Inventory-5 is a reliable and valid tool for measuring anger in the Iranian population.
