Abstract:   (420 Views)
Background and Objectives: Drug addiction can negatively affect people’s lives. Quality of life (QOL) and health literacy are fundamental factors in driving or preventing the tendency towards drug use. The current study aims to predict the addiction tendency based on QOL and health literacy among Iranian male college students.
Methods: This is a descriptive-correlational study. The study population consists of all male students of Islamic Azad University, Qom Branch in the academic year of 2022-2023. A sample size of 358 was estimated using Cochran’s formula people and samples were selected using a simple random sampling method. The used tools included Weed’s addiction potential scale, World Health Organization (WHO) QOL scale, and health literacy for Iranian adults scale. Data were used in SPSS software, version 26 using multiple regression analysis and Pearson correlation test.
Results: The QOL domains (physical health, psychological health, social relationships and social environment) and health literacy domains (access, reading, understanding and decision) were significant predictors of addiction tendency (P<0.05).
Conclusion: QOL and health literacy can predict drug addiction tendency of male college students in Iran. It is recommended that university officials should pay attention to the QOL and health literacy of male college students to reduce their tendency towards drugs.
