Abstract:   (239 Views)
Background and Objectives:
Job burnout, in addition to physical fatigue that occurs due to high workload or conflicts between people, can also have a psychological origin, which, if neglected, leads to a decrease in people's performance and also to a decrease in the quality of work. The aim of this study was to determine the Locus of Control and Burnout among the employees of the Health Information Technology (HIT) unit of hospitals.
Methods:
In this cross-sectional study, 50 employees of HIT unit of university hospitals in South Khorasan participated. The data collection tool was two standard questionnaires including Rutter's Locus of Control and Maslach's burnout scale. Data were analyzed by descriptive tests, Pearson correlation coefficient and regression using SPSS (ver. 20).
Results:
39 people (78%) of the study participants have an external source of control. There is an inverse relationship between emotional exhaustion and locus of control. Emotional fatigue dimension of 34 people (68%) and depersonalization dimension of 32 people (64%) were moderate and lack of personal success was severe for 27 people (54%). And the burnout of 49 people (98%) was average.
Conclusion:
Considering the externality of the source of control of the majority of people participating in the study and the existence of moderate job burnout among them, it seems necessary to hold effective workshops on internalizing the source of control and consequently reducing job burnout.
