Background and Objectives: This study aims to design and validate a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) protocol for infertility stress in Iranian infertile women.
Methods: This is a qualitative study using the content analysis method. The study population consists of all infertile women who were referred to the clinics of gynecology and the infertility treatment clinics in Kermanshah, Iran, in 2022. Based on the principle of theoretical saturation, 70 women were selected using a purposive sampling method. To determine the content validity of the training protocol, the opinions of 10 experts in family psychology were used. Then, the content validity index (CVI) and content validity ratio (CVR) were calculated.
Results: The protocol had acceptable content validity (CVR=0.850, CVI=0.958). It had 12 sessions, each for 120 minutes, designed to practically help infertile women reduce the stress of infertility.
Conclusion: The designed CBT protocol for infertility stress can be used by infertile women along with drug treatment to reduce their stress of infertility. The training protocol includes complete instructions for each session and considers the expectations of infertile women.
